Why SIEC?
SIEC provides meaningful alternatives to youth probation through our equestrian-based service program. We offer a unique approach to youth rehabilitation that emphasizes the positive aspects of personal growth and development. Our program provides participants with the opportunity to develop life skills, build confidence, and gain a sense of responsibility and respect through equestrian activities.
The SIEC mission and goal includes helping curb gun violence and violent crimes by stopping the cycle of violent behavior in youths and adults. We provide mental health services, counseling, tutoring, lifeskills training, mentoring, and other behavioral and mental health services using Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) to help reach our goal.
EAT and EAL are hands-on activities that help participants cope with feelings, develop communication skills, set boundaries, overcome fears, and develop trust. SIEC teaches transparency with each individual that participates in the program by providing a safe environment. We also strive to build stronger bonds in the community, build safer communities, and develop safe havens in communities for all residents.
Our approach to ending gun violence includes a proactive approach of violence prevention/intervention for students in grades 4-12, youths in alternative schools, and those in the juvenile justice system. Other services offered by SIEC are Victim Support, Parental Support, Parenting Classes, Violence Intervention, and Community Outreach. Creating partnerships with local leaders, churches, schools, and community groups will be key in our efforts to obtain our goals.
